I'm not a big World War II buff but I really enjoyed this book because the author wrote it at the time he was experiencing it all -- not when looking back many years later. It's honest, fresh, innocent and funny. Lots of great illustrations. Author descends from noted philospher, William James, the brother of famous novelist, Henry James.
